CZ Says YZi Labs’ Recent Crypto Bets Could Be Top Performers
Binance founder Changpeng Zhao believes the investments made by his family office YZi Labs during the recent market downturn are positioned to deliver strong returns.
Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ) expressed confidence that the seven crypto‑related investments made by his family office, YZi Labs, during the 2026 market dip will become the firm’s best‑performing assets.
Why Timing Matters
During a book‑club session in Hong Kong, Zhao highlighted that the investments were made when crypto prices were near their lows, describing the period as the “depth of the crypto winter.” He noted that Bitcoin had fallen 47% from its peak by early June, and although prices have recovered somewhat, they remain well below the October high.
YZi Labs’ Portfolio Highlights
- RoboForce – Led a $52 million round in March for the robotics company building physical AI systems.
- BitGo – Acquired a stake in the digital‑asset custodian ahead of its January NYSE listing.
- Predict.fun – Added to its position in April alongside Susquehanna Crypto.
- AEON – Led an $8 million pre‑seed round for the payments protocol in May.
- TermMax – Backed the fixed‑rate lender in August.
Other Activities
YZi Labs also spent part of the year involved in a dispute over control of BNB‑treasury firm CEA Industries, which was settled in June after a director’s resignation in March.
Outlook
Zhao indicated that the performance of these investments will ultimately be judged by Bitcoin’s next price move, and he has previously suggested that a $1 million Bitcoin price could be reached sooner than many expect, though current levels are far from that target.
