X links U.S. Cashtags to five brokerages for direct stock, ETF and crypto trades

X’s U.S. Cashtag program now routes ticker clicks to Coinbase, Kraken, Gemini, Interactive Brokers and Moomoo, letting users trade stocks, ETFs and cryptocurrencies on external platforms.

X has expanded its U.S. Cashtag system, adding trade links for stocks, ETFs and cryptocurrencies to five external brokerages and exchanges. When a user taps a supported Cashtag such as $BTC or $TSLA, X shows a live price chart and then presents the partner options. Selecting a partner redirects the user to that broker’s mobile app or website, where the trade is executed.

Partner lineup

  • Coinbase
  • Kraken
  • Gemini
  • Interactive Brokers
  • Moomoo

How the flow works

  1. User searches for or taps a supported Cashtag in a post.
  2. X displays a real‑time chart and related posts.
  3. Available trading partners are shown.
  4. User chooses a broker, signs in or creates an account, and completes the order on that platform.

Asset coverage

Kraken notes that its integration supports nearly 2,500 assets across its centralized and decentralized offerings, though actual availability depends on each broker’s listings and user eligibility.

Promotions and eligibility

Interactive Brokers offers a $100 credit for new U.S. clients who open and fund qualifying accounts through the Cashtag experience. All other terms, such as account requirements and geographic restrictions, are set by the individual partners.

Relation to X’s other products

The Cashtag links are separate from X Money, X’s payments product. Trades are not funded from an X Money balance; users must use the funding methods of the chosen broker.

Background

The feature builds on X’s Smart Cashtags rollout, which earlier displayed real‑time charts and clarified ticker symbols. X previously estimated that its April Cashtag pilot generated roughly $1 billion in global trading volume, though the figure has not been independently verified.
