Franklin Templeton partners with HashKey to launch tokenized U.S. government money market fund in Hong Kong

Franklin Templeton’s tokenized U.S. government liquidity fund, grBENJI, is now available to professional investors on HashKey Exchange’s Earn channel, expanding the asset manager’s Asian distribution network.

Franklin Templeton has added its tokenized U.S. government money market fund to the HashKey Exchange platform, giving professional investors in Hong Kong access through the exchange’s Earn channel.

Fund details and distribution

The product, called the Franklin OnChain U.S. Government Liquidity Fund (ticker grBENJI), invests primarily in U.S. government money‑market instruments and U.S.‑dollar cash assets. Access is limited to eligible professional investors; it is not offered to the general public.

Strategic partnership

HashKey Holdings announced the addition on Aug. 24, noting that the partnership provides a regulated, blockchain‑based distribution route for the fund. HashKey operates under Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission with Type 1 and Type 7 licenses and an AML licence.

Franklin Templeton’s senior vice‑president of digital assets client engagement, Chetan Karkhanis, said the listing gives the firm entry to HashKey’s digital banking, wealth‑management and institutional client base, while highlighting blockchain’s transparency, security and cost efficiency.

Future tokenized products

Both firms intend to explore additional tokenized investment products and asset classes across markets where HashKey has a presence, including Singapore, Tokyo, Dubai and Bermuda.

Broader context

Franklin Templeton’s tokenized assets have grown to over $2.5 billion, and the total market for tokenized real‑world assets reached $38.2 billion, with U.S. Treasury‑linked tokens accounting for roughly $15.6 billion.
