Hyperliquid Deploys First HIP-4 Outcome DEX Named OUT

Hyperliquid has received its first reported builder-deployed HIP-4 outcome exchange after OUT completed deployment through the network’s permissionless market framework.

Hyperliquid’s block explorer recorded a successful on‑chain transaction that registered an outcome decentralized exchange (DEX) under the name OUT using the platform’s HIP‑4 framework. This marks the first reported outcome DEX deployed via Hyperliquid’s permissionless market system.

How HIP‑4 Works

HIP‑4 allows approved deployers to create binary (YES/NO) or multi‑result markets based on templates that have been vetted by Hyperliquid validators. Once a template is approved, deployers can launch new markets without seeking separate validator approval for each contract. All HIP‑4 contracts are fully collateralized, operate without leverage, funding payments, or liquidation mechanisms, and settle within a fixed range at expiration.

OUT Deployment Status

The on‑chain transaction confirms OUT’s registration on the network, but no public announcement or website provides details on live market openings, liquidity, or trading activity. Hyperliquid’s developer documentation currently lists HIP‑4 deployer actions as testnet‑only, indicating that OUT’s deployment may still be in a testing phase rather than a confirmed mainnet launch.

Previous HIP‑4 Activity

Hyperliquid introduced HIP‑4 on testnet in February and activated its first mainnet outcome contracts on May 2. Early products included a daily Bitcoin binary contract and a U.S. CPI contract with three possible outcomes (below 4.3%, exactly 4.3%, above 4.3%). These markets used USDC as collateral and generated modest volume and open interest during initial testing.

Market Metrics

  • By its 25th day, HIP‑4 recorded $2.38 million in 24‑hour Bitcoin outcome volume, representing roughly 20 % of combined Bitcoin prediction‑market volume measured across Hyperliquid and Polymarket.
  • Later snapshots showed open interest around $182 000 and cumulative notional activity near $881 000.

Regulatory Considerations for U.S. Users

OUT does not have the same regulatory status as CFTC‑registered event‑contract platforms such as Kalshi. Hyperliquid has not announced CFTC registration for OUT, and U.S. traders remain unable to access the protocol. Industry groups have urged the CFTC to clarify federal standards for event contracts, but no approval has been indicated.
