IBM Digital Asset Haven Gains Access to Swift’s Permissioned Ledger for Tokenized Deposits

IBM Digital Asset Haven clients can now connect to Swift's shared ledger and instruct tokenized deposit transactions.

IBM announced that its Digital Asset Haven platform now supports connections to permissioned blockchain networks, including Swift’s blockchain‑based shared ledger. The integration is enabled by a new beta ISO 20022 messaging adapter that allows institutions to initiate tokenized deposit transactions using standard payment messages.

Beta Messaging Adapter Enables Standardized Tokenized Deposits

The adapter lets banks leverage existing ISO 20022 payment formats and operational processes rather than adopting blockchain‑specific workflows. Financial institutions already participating in Swift’s program have tested tokenized deposits on the ledger through Digital Asset Haven.

On‑Premises Deployment Option Expands Control

IBM is also releasing an on‑premises beta of Digital Asset Haven that can be installed on IBM Z and IBM LinuxONE systems. The solution runs in a client’s own data center, keeping the platform and key‑management layer inside the organization while using IBM Crypto Express hardware security modules to protect cryptographic keys.

Platform Background and Ecosystem

Digital Asset Haven, launched in October 2025, offers SaaS and hybrid deployment models and was built with wallet infrastructure provider Dfns for regulated entities such as banks and governments. The on‑premises version retains the same architecture, APIs, and workflows as the cloud offerings.

Swift Ledger Context

Swift first unveiled its shared ledger at Sibos 2025, based on a prototype developed with ConsenSys. More than 40 financial institutions contributed to its design, and 17 are currently involved in a tokenized deposit pilot. Swift’s network connects over 12,500 institutions across more than 200 markets.

Industry Outlook

IBM’s general manager for IBM Z and LinuxONE highlighted that the financial services sector is moving toward a model where tokenized and traditional assets coexist, and that the new capabilities help clients engage with emerging digital‑asset networks while maintaining control over critical operations.
