IBM Links Digital Asset Haven to Swift’s Blockchain Ledger and Launches On‑Premises Beta

IBM has integrated its Digital Asset Haven platform with Swift’s permissioned blockchain ledger and opened a beta that lets banks run the solution on‑premises using IBM Z or LinuxONE hardware.

IBM announced that its Digital Asset Haven platform now connects to Swift’s blockchain‑based shared ledger through a new integration, while also offering an on‑premises beta deployment for regulated institutions.

Swift ledger integration

The integration uses an ISO 20022 Messaging Adapter, allowing banks to initiate tokenized‑deposit transactions on Swift’s ledger with the same payment messages they already use. Seventeen banks across six continents are piloting tokenized deposits, with final settlement continuing on existing banking rails. The Swift ledger records interbank payment commitments on an Ethereum Virtual Machine‑compatible layer built on Hyperledger Besu, while banks retain control of assets, funding and keys.

On‑premises beta for IBM Z and LinuxONE

IBM’s beta lets clients install Digital Asset Haven inside their own data centers on IBM Z or LinuxONE systems, removing the need for public‑cloud infrastructure. The deployment supports stablecoins, tokenized deposits, hardware security modules (Crypto Express HSMs), confidential computing, cold‑storage signing and structured key‑ceremony processes. IBM cites internal measurements of 99.999999% availability for qualifying configurations.

Platform capabilities

  • Wallet management, transaction orchestration and governance across public and private blockchains.
  • HSM and multiparty‑computation key management.
  • Compliance integrations and transaction monitoring.

Industry context

The rollout follows Swift’s July announcement that its ledger was ready for initial use after nine months of development with more than 40 financial institutions. Earlier reports noted live interbank tokenized‑deposit transactions between HSBC and Standard Chartered, and a separate integration by custody provider Taurus.

Next steps

IBM has opened a waitlist for institutions interested in the on‑premises beta. Swift plans to discuss the ledger’s implementation at Sibos 2026 (Sept. 28 – Oct. 1). IBM cautions that product statements are subject to change without notice.
