Morpho Expands Fixed-Rate Midnight Markets to Ethereum
USDC markets backed by WBTC and cbBTC are live, while roughly $5 billion held in Morpho Vaults remains unable to enter Midnight pending DAO action.

Morpho has launched its Midnight fixed‑term, fixed‑rate lending protocol on Ethereum, adding USDC loans collateralised by tokenised Bitcoin assets (WBTC and cbBTC). The rollout follows earlier deployments on Base and introduces predictable borrowing costs for Ethereum users.
New Fixed‑Rate Markets on Ethereum
The Ethereum‑filtered markets page shows about $7.41 million in total deposits and $2.63 million in outstanding loans. The markets currently available are:
- USDC | WBTC
- USDC | cbBTC
Both collateral types represent Bitcoin on Ethereum, providing borrowers with a stable rate for a set maturity and lenders with a locked return.
How Midnight Differs from Morpho Blue
Morpho Blue offers open‑ended loans with rates that adjust continuously via a formula. In contrast, Midnight trades credit units at market‑set prices for fixed maturities, allowing borrowers to know their financing cost upfront and lenders to secure a predetermined yield.
Capital Availability Remains Limited
Approximately $5 billion in deposits sit in Morpho Vaults, but these funds cannot yet be allocated to Midnight markets. Activation requires a single DAO transaction, which Morpho’s co‑founder and CEO expects to occur in the fourth quarter. Until then, Midnight must rely on direct capital inflows rather than the vault’s curated deposit base.
Future Outlook
Morpho plans to expand the Ethereum Midnight offering progressively, adding more collateral options over time. The protocol aims to give curators and users time to adopt the new product and develop supporting tools before unlocking vault allocations.
