NYSE Partners with Blockchain.com to Prepare for Tokenized Asset Market

NYSE and Blockchain.com have signed an MOU to enable crypto users to access tokenized US stocks and ETFs on a planned 24‑hour digital venue, pending regulatory approval.

NYSE Group and Blockchain.com announced a memorandum of understanding that could give the crypto platform’s users access to tokenized U.S. equities and exchange‑traded funds on NYSE’s upcoming digital trading venue, subject to regulatory approval.

Planned digital venue

NYSE unveiled a digital platform in January that aims to offer 24‑hour trading of tokenized U.S. shares and ETFs, fractional orders, on‑chain settlement and stablecoin‑based funding. The venue would support tokenized versions of traditionally issued securities as well as assets issued directly on blockchain, while preserving shareholder rights such as dividends and voting.

Distribution partnerships

Blockchain.com, with more than 44 million confirmed accounts, will serve as a potential gateway for crypto‑native investors. The agreement also creates a two‑way market‑data relationship: ICE Data Services will provide Blockchain.com’s users with crypto pricing and analytics, while Blockchain.com will integrate ICE and NYSE market feeds into its app.

NYSE has also partnered with OKX, which serves over 120 million accounts, and with tokenization firm Securitize, the first digital transfer agent eligible to mint blockchain‑native securities for issuers on the platform.

Market potential

Citi Institute estimates that tokenized financial assets could reach $5.5 trillion by 2030, up from about $17 billion today, with public equities and Treasuries driving most of the growth. In a bullish scenario, the market could expand to $8.2 trillion. If 10 % of U.S. retail investors adopt on‑chain products by the end of the decade, demand for tokenized public equities alone could approach $2.6 trillion.

Next steps

The trading component remains dependent on regulatory approval. NYSE has not disclosed when Blockchain.com users could connect to the venue, which securities will be offered, or which jurisdictions will be eligible.
