Ripple expands XRP branding to Louisville basketball courts as part of college sports push
The 69-day rollout spans Kansas uniforms, Florida’s football field and Louisville basketball, but stops short of token adoption.

Ripple is extending its XRP branding into U.S. college sports with a new partnership with Louisville Athletics. The deal adds the cryptocurrency’s logo to the university’s basketball court, joining earlier placements on Kansas University uniforms and the University of Florida football field.
From research labs to stadiums
Ripple’s university outreach began in 2018 with the University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI), which funds blockchain research, curriculum development and technical projects. UBRI now involves more than 60 universities across 27 countries, supporting over 800 fintech courses and roughly 1,500 blockchain research projects.
Kansas: the first jersey‑patch deal
In 2019 Kansas joined UBRI after Ripple committed $2 million over five years for blockchain and digital‑payments research. The partnership later grew into a multiyear sponsorship announced in July, placing XRP patches on the uniforms of multiple athletic programs. The agreement runs for five years and is described as one of the more lucrative jersey‑patch deals in college sports.
Florida: field‑side branding
On September 4 Ripple announced a multiyear deal with the University of Florida that puts XRP branding on the field at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, as well as on digital assets and event signage. The partnership also includes support for financial and technology education for student‑athletes and the broader university community. Reported figures suggest the deal is worth about $5 million per year, though neither party disclosed exact terms.
Louisville: basketball‑court exposure
The latest agreement with Louisville Athletics adds XRP logos to Denny Crum Court, completing a three‑pronged exposure strategy: jersey patches at Kansas, field branding at Florida, and court branding at Louisville.
Impact on XRP price and utility
Since July, XRP has experienced notable volatility, climbing from $1.09 to an intraday high of $1.695 in August before settling around $1.41. While the branding efforts have raised visibility, the agreements do not require the universities to hold or use XRP for tickets, merchandise or payments, leaving the question of practical utility unanswered.
Looking ahead
Future university collaborations that incorporate on‑chain payments, ticketing or donations could transform Ripple’s branding strategy into measurable usage. For now, the company is focused on increasing public awareness of the XRP name across a broader American audience.
