The Clearing House Chooses Quant for Tokenized Deposit Network

The Clearing House will use Quant’s interoperability platform to enable banks to clear and settle tokenized deposits on a new on‑chain network linked to RTP and CHIPS, with access expected in early 2027.

The Clearing House announced that Quant will provide the interoperability and transaction‑management layer for its On‑Chain Money Initiative. The network aims to let financial institutions clear and settle tokenized deposits while remaining connected to existing real‑time payments (RTP) and CHIPS payment rails.

How the Network Will Work

Quant’s technology will coordinate the movement of tokenized deposits between participating banks and link the on‑chain system to the fiat‑based RTP and CHIPS infrastructures. A tokenized deposit remains a liability of the issuing bank, with the blockchain layer enabling programmable recording, transfer and settlement of that claim.

Potential Use Cases

The Clearing House says the platform could support corporate treasury operations, liquidity management, cross‑border payments and digital‑asset settlement. Payments may be programmed to execute automatically when predefined conditions are met.

Timeline and Scope

The initiative was first announced in June. With Quant selected, the project moves from a conceptual banking effort to a defined technology architecture. Participating institutions are expected to gain access in the first half of 2027. The system is still under development and is not a live consumer payment network.

Industry Significance

If successful, the shared tokenized‑deposit network would allow banks to use existing payment infrastructure alongside programmable on‑chain money, potentially reducing the need to choose between traditional rails and emerging digital‑asset solutions.
