Cumberland, DRW’s Trading Arm, Increases PONS Holdings on Robinhood Chain
A wallet linked to Cumberland added 2.7 million PONS on Sept. 11, raising its total position to 11.2 million tokens worth about $6.8 million, while rival market maker Wintermute is also buying the meme‑token launchpad.

On Sept. 11, a wallet associated with Cumberland – the crypto trading division of Chicago‑based DRW – purchased an additional 2.7 million PONS tokens for roughly $1.55 million. The acquisition brings Cumberland’s total PONS holdings to about 11.2 million tokens, valued at $6.76 million.
Methodical Accumulation
The buying was spread over a full week, with Cumberland withdrawing approximately 8.5 million PONS (about $6.55 million) from the Gate exchange during the same period. This steady approach contrasts with short‑term opportunistic trades.
Other Market Makers Join the Activity
Analytics firm Arkham flagged Wintermute as another large buyer of PONS, suggesting the firm may be acting as a market maker for the token.
What Is PONS?
PONS is a token‑launchpad on Robinhood Chain, an Ethereum L2 built on Arbitrum. It enables users to mint tradable tokens for roughly $1 in fees. Since early July, about 646,000 tokens have been created by more than 167,000 unique addresses, generating daily trading volume of $544 million on Sept. 2 and protocol fees of $5.95 million in 24 hours. The platform ranks fourth among all protocols by fee revenue, behind Tether, Uniswap and Circle.
Token Economics
PONS collects launch fees in WETH, which are used to repurchase and burn PONS tokens. To date, roughly 293 million PONS – about 29 % of the original supply – have been destroyed.
Current Market Conditions
At the time of reporting, PONS trades near $0.58, giving it a market cap of about $440 million. The token is down 7.5 % on the day and roughly 35 % below its recent high of $0.971. Over the past 30 days, PONS has risen 1,384 %.
Risks and Outlook
The token’s price is closely tied to the volume of new meme‑coin launches on the platform. A single wallet recently turned $220 k into over $4.7 million by capturing gains from both CASHCAT and PONS, illustrating the high‑reward, high‑risk nature of the space. Continued buying pressure from market makers like Cumberland and Wintermute will be a key signal, especially as broader crypto risk appetite faces pressure from recent liquidations.
