Ault Blockchain builds finance‑first Layer 1 to bypass banking restrictions

Crypto argument against traditional finance has remained ideological, with banks acting as gatekeepers, centralized institutions restricting access, and money seen as something that should flow freely through open networks. That argument hits differently when you hear it from executives operating…

Ault Blockchain was created after founder Todd Ault encountered banking restrictions while running regulated businesses. The project aims to provide a permissionless, compliance‑ready infrastructure for trading, settlement and tokenizing real‑world assets.

Why the network was launched

During the COVID‑19 pandemic, one of Ault’s operating companies had its cash frozen and was given a 30‑day notice to relocate. The experience highlighted the risk of private intermediaries arbitrarily cutting off access, even for fully compliant firms.

Technical design

The blockchain is an EVM‑compatible Layer 1 built on the Cosmos SDK, Cosmos EVM and CometBFT consensus, targeting sub‑second 200 ms block times. It integrates a dedicated decentralized exchange (Ault DEX), a distribution channel (Ault Affiliates) and governance through a Wyoming DAO LLC.

Token model

The native token, $AULT, will not be sold in a public token sale. Instead, it follows a deterministic ten‑year declining emissions schedule that rewards Licensed Mining Nodes for verifiable off‑chain work such as oracle services, indexing and AI‑related computing.

Regulatory stance

Although regulators urge crypto firms to adopt traditional financial compliance, Ault Blockchain embeds audit and disclosure standards from its parent company, NYSE‑listed Hyperscale Data, directly into the protocol. This approach seeks to combine permissionless finance with institutional trust, reducing reliance on fragile banking relationships.
