XRP Price Slides 27% in 2026 as XRPL Stablecoins, Tokenization Surge
XRP fell sharply in the first eight months of 2026, but activity across the XRP Ledger moved in the opposite direction. Stablecoins, tokenized assets, and Ripple’s institutional infrastructure all expanded, creating a widening gap between the XRP price and underlying network development.

During the first eight months of 2026, XRP’s market price dropped 27% while the XRP Ledger (XRPL) saw a 21% rise in daily transactions, reaching 2.4 million. The divergence highlights a growing disconnect between price performance and network activity.
Price Decline Amid Market Weakness
By the end of July, XRP traded around $1.06, down 42.7% from the end of 2025 and 27.5% year‑to‑date. Daily trading volume fell 64% to $2.38 billion as broader crypto markets retreated from the ETF‑driven optimism of late 2025.
XRPL Transaction Growth
Despite the price drop, the XRPL processed more transactions, with average daily volume climbing 21% to 2.4 million from January to July. The network’s validator count also increased from 119 to 141, indicating expanding infrastructure support.
RLUSD Migration to XRPL
Ripple’s dollar‑backed stablecoin, RLUSD, saw its market cap rise 23.4% to $1.58 billion by July’s end. Issuance on the XRPL grew to $907.2 million (58.9% of total supply), up from 18.4% at the start of the year, while RLUSD on Ethereum fell 39.4% to $632.2 million. This shift helped XRPL’s overall stablecoin market reach a record $1.02 billion on July 13, ending the month at $798.4 million, a 173.9% increase from December.
Institutional Expansion
Ripple expanded its institutional footprint despite the market slump, securing additional European regulatory approvals, opening a regional headquarters in Dubai, and pursuing an Australian Financial Services licence through a proposed acquisition of BC Payments Australia. Ripple Prime added access to Hyperliquid, Coinbase Derivatives, and EDX Markets, and obtained a $200 million financing facility from Neuberger Specialty Finance.
Tokenization Momentum
XRPL now hosts hundreds of tokenized real‑world assets, including U.S. Treasuries, corporate credit, private equity, and real estate. Institutions such as Ondo and Guggenheim are active in the ecosystem.
Outlook for XRP
Following a mid‑August low of $1.00, XRP briefly traded above $1.30, up about 32% from that trough. Investors are watching whether the expanding network usage and institutional adoption will translate into sustained demand for the token.
