State Consultant John Cabello proposed Illinois Home Invoice 1844 (HB1844), which requires establishing a strategic reserve fund to carry Bitcoin as a “particular fund within the state treasury for the aim of holding Bitcoin as a monetary asset.”

As soon as the five-year holding interval concludes, the state treasury could be allowed to “switch, promote, applicable, or convert to a different cryptocurrency any Bitcoin within the Fund,” the invoice says.
