Circle Launches StableFX on Arc for 24/7 Stablecoin FX Settlement

Circle’s new StableFX service on its Arc network enables approved institutions to settle foreign‑exchange trades in stablecoins around the clock, using RFQ pricing and atomic smart‑contract settlement.

Circle has introduced StableFX on its Arc blockchain, offering approved institutional users continuous access to stablecoin‑based foreign‑exchange (FX) settlement.

How StableFX Works

Participants submit a request‑for‑quote (RFQ) and receive pricing from multiple liquidity providers. After selecting a counter‑party, both parties fund a settlement smart contract. The contract executes a payment‑versus‑payment (PvP) settlement, meaning either both legs settle simultaneously or none do, reducing principal risk.

Settlement Flexibility

Institutions can settle trades instantly or use programmable windows that allow netting of multiple trades before final settlement, extending the utility of stablecoins beyond simple payments.

Supported Stablecoins

StableFX currently supports a range of stablecoin representations, including Circle’s USDC and EURC, as well as tokens for the Australian dollar, Brazilian real, Japanese yen, Canadian dollar and South African rand.

Regulatory Positioning

Circle provides the APIs and smart‑contract infrastructure but does not hold custody of the assets or act as an intermediary. Participating firms remain responsible for their own licensing and compliance obligations.

Implications for the FX Market

The service aims to address settlement friction in traditional FX markets by leveraging stablecoins for continuous, on‑chain settlement, potentially shifting a key use case of stablecoins to back‑office financial infrastructure.
